Picking up where the Archaic Greece tutorial ends, the survey course covers the period of Classical Greece at its zenith, to include the Persian Wars and the fatally self-destructive Peloponnesian War, which featured Greek against Greek as alliances of city-states let by Athens and Sparta respectively, fought bitterly to an end that left them weakened and susceptible to later conquest under the Macedonians, the first Hellenistic kingdom.
